Creative Writing

The Writing Department at Blackbird Academy of Arts stems from not only a deep love for the art, but also the awareness that the writing abilities of students at all levels seems to be lacking greatly. We seek to instill that same love for writing into all our students, and to then give them the tools needed to pursue that passion with excellence. We believe that all great writers must have an appreciation for the works of other writers, and therefore we incorporate the reading of works of all kinds, from different time periods, cultures, and genres into our curriculum. Students at all levels will be encouraged to share their work with teachers and classmates, and older students will be involved in open workshops (the process of reading, editing, and offering constructive criticism) of each others’ work.
